Southampton Stonehenge Tours - The Stonehenge Trail

My name is Chris Litherland. I live in the beautiful medieval city of Salisbury which is ideally located for visiting Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. As an “Independent private Tour Guide” I offer a unique personal service.

My family and I also love to travel and we also like to take a “local private” tour guides. As well as soaking up the facts we like the entertainment that a good guide can bring to the day and local knowledge means that we get to see places “off the beaten track”. My comfortable Honda SUV is ideal for exploring the English countryside along narrow lanes where no bus could travel and through the New Forest or along the River Avon.

As I operate solely as a “private and independent” tour guide this means that when you make an enquiry, we agree your tour itinerary together, and I shall be the person who will meet you and show you around.

Below is a selection of tours. These cover the most requested locations but I can arrange personalized tours to suit.

Take a look and if you would like a detailed offer, drop me a line. I look forward to hearing from you.

Shore Excursions

Let me collect you at your cruise ship and take you on a magical excursion. We shall travel through some of England’s most beautiful countryside, through a land of history and enchantment. See wild ponies in the New Forest, and view Salisbury Cathedral across the water-meadows. Learn about the people who built Stonehenge before you get there ensuring that you really get the most out of your experience. As a cruise passenger you will enjoy the standard personal attention you are accustomed to.

Airport/London Transfers

There are many options available from coaches to taxi’s that can take you to your hotel or airport along highways and busy roads.

If you would however like to make this day part of your vacation providing a lasting memory, then join me on the “Stonehenge Trail”.

We follow a route capturing the very essence of the English countryside as we drive along country lanes. Of course we stop at Stonehenge, and Salisbury Cathedral but there is also much more to enjoy.

If you are a Daytripper

If you have just one day to spend checking out Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral and the Magna Carta, then let us show you around. These sites and many more are included in our “Stonehenge trail”. We meet you at the railway station and you just sit back and relax. We will plan your day to suit you. Fancy a pub lunch or fish and chips by the river…no problem. After your tour why not dine in one of Salisbury’s many restaurants that cater for all tastes.

Staying in Salisbury

If you are lucky enough to be staying in Salisbury you will certainly enjoy the atmosphere of this medieval city. In the Cathedral excellent guides volunteer to show you around at no cost. To make your visit to Stonehenge truly memorable, join me on my “Stonehenge Trail”. Lasting ½ day it will take you to places no other tour visits.

There is so much more to experience in this magical countryside than your visit to Stonehenge.

Considered staying in Salisbury before or after your Cruise?

Located a mere 35 minutes from the Southampton Cruise terminal, Salisbury is an ideal place to stay before or after your cruise.

After being collected from your ship follow my “Shore Excursion” and learn the history of this beautiful medieval city in the countryside. Check into your hotel and later why not explore Salisbury at your leisure. This beautiful medieval City with a magnificent Cathedral is home to Magna Carta. It is famous for it’s musical tradition so  why not attend Choral Evensong at 4.30pm and listen to Salisbury’s famous choristers.
